BIG PLANS FOR SCONE VETS
The Hunter Valley’s Scone Veterinary Hospital will, by mid 2006, be operating from a brand new multi million dollar building which will be “one of the world’s most advanced specialist veterinary facilities”.
The new centre, which is to be built on 11 hectares of land on the northern outskirts of Scone, will cater for increased thoroughbred business in the area and it will feature advanced intensive care and surgical facilities.
“This is a very exciting project for us,” said Angus Adkins – specialist equine surgeon and a partner of the Scone Veterinary Hospital – “what we are proposing will be one of the most impressive veterinary hospitals in the world and we are very proud it will be located in the horse capital of Australia.”
“Our staff and specialist veterinarians are already recognised internationally for their skills. Now they will have a wonderful facility to match that expertise,” he continued.
Features of the $6 million hospital include two sterile surgical suites, four recovery rooms, stabling for up to sixty horses, a specialised neonatal intensive care unit, a podiatry and lameness centre and an advanced reproduction unit.
