Leading rating agency gives Lloyd’s an A

Ratings agency A.M. Best has affirmed Lloyd’s financial strength of A (excellent) with a stable outlook, praising the market’s ability to withstand last year’s US hurricanes and the strength of its brand.

Best also said that it expects Lloyd’s central assets to stay strong throughout 2006, remaining comparable to the end of 2005 when they stood at GBP1,850 million ($3,183 million).

Luke Savage, director, finance and risk management at Lloyd’s said: “We are delighted that A.M. Best has affirmed our rating of A (excellent) for the second year running, highlighting the resilience and strength of the Lloyd’s market and its prospective performance.
